Equipment / Fleet Manager

Job Overview
ATS is looking for an Equipment / Fleet Manager who wants to be part of a fast paced, high growth traffic enforcement technology company. The Equipment / Fleet Manager will be responsible for maintaining, managing, procuring and ensuring that ATS has the right equipment in the right place at the right time; minimizing vehicle costs; increasing vehicle reliability and availability; insuring safety through driver training and proper maintenance, and helping to reduce business risks associated with field related operations. The position will be located in Scottsdale, AZ managing approximately 50 vehicles, equipment and processes across the United States.

Responsibilities

    The individual will:
  • Manage all company-owned vehicles tracking, processing and updating:
    • Vehicle registrations / renewals
    • Insurance premiums / renewals
    • Insurance claims
    • Maintenance activities / schedules ( preventative / repair)
    • Ensure consistent branding across look and feel of vehicles (and general equipment)
  • Manage / monitor / track vehicle expenses
    • Fuel usage
    • Toll way charges
    • Maintenance / repairs
    • Mileage
  • Manage rental truck usage
    • Negotiate contracts / rates / terms with multiple suppliers
    • Order fulfillment / procurement and scheduling
    • Insurance processing
  • Process / Procedure development and maintenance
    • Develop tracking processes and systems
    • Develop reporting process / tools
    • Develop standards / exception handling process
  • Fleet analysis
    • Audit reports and define "run rate" business models
    • Do analysis to determine rent vs. buy decisions as well as optimize purchase vs. leasing
    • Identify improvement areas
    • Identify trends
    • Support and execute acquisition and sale of vehicles
  • Management reporting
    • Produce regularly scheduled reports on above items
    • Produce ad-hoc reports for issue reporting
    • Work closely with senior management to develop fleet strategies as new cities come online
  • Manage Field Service assets (non-customer related)
    • Tool kits (assignments, locations, contents)
    • Specialized tools (locations, assignments, contents)
    • Tool expenses
    • Remote storage facilities (locations, assets, costs)
  • Safety
    • Ensure proper safety procedures for equipment in use
    • Establish and implement driver training procedures
    • Ensure that all field personnel receive proper training and equipment to perform their job, as well as documenting such training and equipment distribution
  • Insurance
    • Track insurance, workers comp and other claims associated with issues occurring in the business
    • Support the insurance renewal process
    • Recommend opportunities for lowering insurance costs while improving ATS claims experience
  • Effectively prioritize, plan and manage time

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years managing fleets, capital equipment and/or equipment maintenance programs
  • An associate's degree
  • Solid working knowledge and comfort with Windows operating systems and Office applications

  • Strong knowledge of the automotive and truck industry
  • Basic mechanical understanding of vehicular engines, drive-trains, bodies and chassis
  • Strong organization and follow-up skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and safely
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ambitious and hard working with a clean drivers license and willing to take pre and post employment drug testing
  • Solid experience working with fleet/equipment management software

Work Environment

  • Field work may occasionally require bending and lifting of as much as 50-75 lbs as well as operating hand and power tools
  • Some driving and bucket truck operation; ability to drive, use and evaluate bucket trucks of various make, model, and condition
  • Office, warehouse and garage environment with some time spent outdoors and traveling
