AMERICAN TRAFFIC SOLUTIONS CONTINUES RECORD-SETTING GROWTH

Scottsdale, AZ – (May 8, 2008) While several segments of Arizona’s economy are reporting bleak numbers for 2008, American Traffic Solutions (ATS), headquartered in Scottsdale, is continuing to build on the strong growth the company posted in 2007, according to James Tuton, president and CEO.

In the first four months of this year, 11 communities in six states selected ATS to provide photo safety enforcement programs that include red-light and speed cameras. ATS’ position as the leading provider of traffic safety systems to big cities was further enhanced with the addition of San Diego, CA and Spokane, WA to its client roster, extending the company’s reach to more than 100 communities in 16 states, plus contracts in Canada.

“The photo safety enforcement industry is experiencing phenomenal growth as police departments, stretched thin due to a challenging economy, turn to technology to improve public safety,” explained Tuton. “According to surveys taken in several states, red-light and speed cameras are supported by 70-90 percent of the public. The cameras change drivers’ behavior, causing them to slow down and understand that red means stop. Crashes are down in most of our communities. We’re also seeing a decrease in serious injuries.”

Tuton credits ATS’ employees, technology and customer service for the company’s continued and dramatic growth. “Our growth is a tribute to our talented and hardworking employees and their commitment to providing the best technology and highest product and customer service,” he said.

ATS’ growth has been a boon to Scottsdale’s economy. The company has added more 60 employees since the start of 2008, bringing its total work force to 400 people nationwide. It is actively recruiting for another 40-50 positions. ATS moved into a new national headquarters in the Scottsdale Airpark last month. ATS is already planning to expand into another adjacent building.

Communities that have selected ATS between January and April of this year include:

ATS expects to make several new contract announcements in the coming weeks as several communities have recently selected ATS or are in various stages of contract negotiations.

In Arizona, ATS serves the communities of Avondale, Glendale, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson. The company also operates the Loop 101 speed cameras for the City of Scottsdale.
