American Traffic Solutions Is Now The Largest Photo Enforcement Provider In Texas

SCOTTSDALE, AZ, August 30, 2007 - Fort Worth and eight other Texas cities have selected American Traffic Solutions, Inc. (ATS) as the provider for their red light camera photo enforcement programs. ATS is the most preferred provider for photo traffic enforcement programs among large North American cities. In addition to Fort Worth, ATS manages red light camera programs in New York City, Philadelphia, Houston, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Seattle, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Calgary and Phoenix, Tucson, Scottsdale, Glendale and Mesa, AZ.

Other Texas cities that recently selected ATS include Amarillo, Baytown, Beaumont, Burleson, College Station, Jersey Village, Nederland and Progreso. They join Arlington, Balcones Heights, Cedar Hill, Irving, Houston, Hutto, Humble, Irving, Lubbock and Sugar Land, making ATS the largest photo traffic enforcement provider in Texas. ATS is also participating in a demonstration project in Austin. The company is now contracted to install and operate more than 850 red light and speed cameras across the country and more than 220 red light cameras in 19 Texas communities.

The Fort Worth City Council selected ATS after city staff conducted a very thorough evaluation of ATS and its chief competitor. Fort Worth utilized the interlocal cooperative purchasing option to "piggy back" Arlington's ATS contract. In addition to reviewing Arlington's competitive bidding process in which ATS was the successful bidder, Fort Worth's procurement staff contacted 20 cities currently served by ATS. They probed the quality of ATS' technology (software and hardware), customer service and experience in similar scale contracts.

Fort Worth staff reported to the City Council that ATS' camera does well in the Texas heat. The ".camera that ATS uses is extremely robust as it was designed for more severe commercial and industrial uses than the red light camera application," staff reported to the Council.

"ATS has issued millions of violation notices using this camera system and they have evidently not had a single case where the validity or integrity of the image data was challenged," the report to Council noted. Arlington staff told Fort Worth reviewers, "We've had no issue with image quality. In fact, the prosecutable images produced has exceeded our expectations."

Each of the Texas communities that recently selected ATS will be provided with a photo safety program customized to the unique needs of each city. The camera systems provided by ATS all feature ultra-high resolution digital cameras, crystal-clear images and the smallest and most unobtrusive camera system in the industry, which reduces clutter at intersections. ATS will also assist each community in the development of a public awareness program.

"We're excited about our continued growth in Texas," said James Tuton, ATS' president and CEO. "We're honored to help Texas communities improve public safety with our advanced technology and customer-focused services. I also want to commend the Texas cities that have selected us and their commitment to reducing the crashes, injuries and fatalities that result from red light running."

ATS provides photo traffic safety and other transportation-related services and products to nearly 100 communities in North America. The company's technology and product lines are continuously being updated and improved in response to the growing demand for new public safety enforcement tools.
