Bedford Park, IL – The Village of Bedford Park, IL was able to start issuing warning notices to red-light runners just 17 days after granting permits to its contracted vendor, American Traffic Solutions, Inc. (ATS) to install red-light cameras at the intersection of 65th Street and Lavergne Ave. In the first 10 days of the warning period, 160 warnings have been issued to red-light runners. Starting July 6, citations will be issued with a $100 fine.

“ATS did an amazing job working with Bedford Park to quickly install Bedford Park’s redlight camera public safety program that is designed to decrease the number of crashes and injuries caused by red-light runners,” said Bedford Park Police Captain Dan Godfrey. “These first 160 violators should feel warned, if they continue to run red-lights in Bedford Park they’ll no longer get away with it.”

“I’ve already received some calls from other communities asking how we got our cameras up and working so fast. Looking at the number of red-light runners caught in just the first ten days, I could not be happier that ATS so quickly put us on the path to fewer crashes and injuries. Hopefully during this 30-day warning period drivers will modify their driving habits to make our streets safer and to ensure they avoid receiving a citation” concluded Godfrey.

Captain Godfrey also noted that the back-end and technical processes of the program are running smoothly and as intended.
