National Stop on Red Week begins August 6th and continues through August 12th.

The Federal Highway Administration created the campaign in 1995 to educate the public and bring awareness to the number and severity of intersection crashes. This event provides a great opportunity to promote safe driving and remind the public of why it’s so important to stop on red. Join us on social to be a part of the conversation and make a difference! Follow and use the #StopOnRed2017.

ATS urges motorists to remember these important rules when approaching intersections where there are traffic lights:

  • Yellow lights are an indicator to slow down and prepare to stop.
  • Come to a complete stop before turning right on red.
  • Scan intersections and approach with caution, even if the light is green.
  • Yield to pedestrians. The right of way is theirs.
